Largest ferry to service Dover Strait launched

If you’re planning a road trip across the Channel to find your perfect French property, P&O Ferries has some good news. It has just launched the largest ferry ever to operate on the Dover Strait. Costing €180 million, and servicing the Dover-Calais route, the Spirit of Britain can carry 2,000 passengers, and nearly four kilometres of traffic parked end to end on its three separate vehicle decks. The giant new ferry sails for Calais five times per 24 hours and, at the end of March, Dame Kelly Holmes will officially name her. The Spirit of Britain will be joined on the Dover-Calais service in September by a sister ship, Spirit of France. www.poferries.com
