France’s hotel industry resists recession

France was one of the few EU countries not to experience a drop in rack rates in 2008, according to MKG hospitality.

A rack rate is the published full price for which hotel rooms are sold and is a good indicator of the hotel industry’s health.

France’s rack rates grew 4.1% in 2008, reaching €117, compared to neighbouring countries Germany, Spain and Belgium who all lost ground over the year.
