A pool on the piste

The appeal of a swim or a warm soak after a winter afternoon skiing on the piste means that heated indoor pools come as standard with the leaseback apartments available to buy in the rsidences de tourisme built by MGM French properties in the French Alps.

Many of them, like Le Chalet de Flambeau in Val Cenis in the Haute-Maurienne region, have year-round appeal as holiday homes.

In addition to an indoor pool with a glazed roof, property owners at Le Chalet de Flambeau – as with in other MGM rsidences – have use of four-star facilities which include a fitness suite, gym, sauna, jacuzzi and steam rooms, as well as an OdesCimes spa with a variety of massages and treatments on offer.

At Le Centaure, MGM’s rsidence de tourisme nearing completion in the purpose-built ski resort of Flaine, apartments come with use of a 25 metre x 10 metre indoor swimming pool – and a smaller children’s pool – with dramatic floor-to-ceiling views of a nearby mountain waterfall.

Some of MGM’s developments, in which apartments are offered for outright purchase, also come with pools. Typical is Le Chalet des Oursons in Crest-Voland Cohennoz, a small Savoyard village tucked away in the Beaufortain Massif region where all but five of the 11 apartments in the final phase have been sold. The scheme includes an open-air communal pool in the grounds – an unusual feature in an Alpine development of this type.

And in Samons, one of the most picturesque traditional market towns in the French Alps, MGM’s development of 70 apartments at Les Chardons Argents – its sixth development in the town – an indoor pool for use by residents is included in the plans.

MGM has properties available to buy in around 25 mountain and lakeside locations at prices ranging from €174,000 to more than €1.5 million, depending on property size and location.
