What’s on in July 2023?

Summer holidays, warm weather and plenty of events to attend; July is a great time to visit France. From the famous Tour de France which is starting in the Basque country this year, to fireworks on Bastille Day or a music festival in Brittany, here are some events to add to your calendar this month.

Tour de France

The 2023 Tour de France will be the 110th edition of the race and will take place from July 1 to July 23, with the Grand Depart taking place in Bilbao, Spain. The race is expected to be a two-way fight between defending champion Jonas Vingegaard and two-time winner Tadej Pogačar, and it could be the most exciting tour yet.

Les Vieilles Charrues Music Festival

France’s largest music festival attracts over 200,000 people to this usually tranquil corner of Brittany. This year the eclectic line-up will include Robbie Williams, Blur, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Morcheeba and more. Festival goers will also be able to enjoy free rides on a giant funfair, including a ferris wheel and 54m-high carousel.

Bastille Day is a French national holiday celebrated on July 14th every year. It commemorates the storming of the Bastille fortress in Paris on July 14, 1789, which was a significant event in the French Revolution and the end of the monarchy in France. The day is also known as the French National Celebration or Fête Nationale.
