Eurostar’s new direct ski service from London stops almost outside the door of brand new ski homes

With just days to go until the first Eurostar ski train of the season pulls out of London’s St Pancras International for the 186 mph ride to the heart of the French Alps, the region’s leading developer of ski properties is inviting passengers to take a few minutes out on arrival in Bourg-St-Maurice to look at the brand new apartments less than five minutes’ walk from the railway station and available to buy and occupy now.

Richard Deans of MGM French Properties who can supply full details to passengers prior to departure says, “These properties have a special appeal for older people as their Eurostar trains direct from London or Ashford stop almost outside the door of their French home at the end of a journey which is comfortable and easy, without the hassle of airports and transfers.”

Civil servant Andrew Hill of Milton Keynes, one of the Britons who have bought at Le Grand Coeur, always travels to the French Alps by Eurostar in the ski season. He says: “It’s great to have a holiday home within walking distance of both the railway station at Bourg-St-Maurice and the funicular up to Les Arcs. Resorts like Tignes and La Rosire are within easy reach thanks to the coach services on the doorstep.”

THE TOWN

Bourg-St-Maurice – bustling throughout the year and with a number of top ski resorts on its doorstep – is located at the heart of the Tarentaise Valley. Britons who have acquired an apartment in the town list its easy access, weekly market, traditional restaurants and extensive healthcare facilities among reasons for opting to buy there.

In the ski season Bourg-St-Maurice becomes a popular hub for coach services to centres which include Tignes, Val d’Isere, La Rosiere, Vallandry and La Plagne. A six-minute funicular railway links Bourg-St-Maurice with Les Arcs and the 420km of pistes of the Paradiski skiing area. In summer it is a popular centre for walking.

THE PROPERTIES

Le Grand Coeur, which comprises four traditionally-styled chalets standing in landscaped gardens near the town centre, has been constructed using local materials. They are finished in timber and stone on external walls.

Ready for occupation now, the apartments feature pine finishes with tiled and parquet floors. Many have large balconies or terraces with views of the mountains surrounding the town. All come with cellar storage and an underground car parking space.

Prices start at €173,000 for a 53m2 two-bedroom apartment. For details email Richard Deans at [email protected]. Alternatively call 0207 4940706 or visit www.mgmfrenchproperties.com
