NEW ALPINE SUMMER HOMES ARE IDEAL

Holiday homes for sale in the Grand Massif area of the French Alps, where summer temperatures can rise as high as 40C, are only four hours door-to-door’ from London.

“Although synonymous with winter skiing, the Grand Massif is home to some of the region’s most scenic and traditional working villages where you can live all year round in an established community,” says Richard Deans, London-based sales consultant with the region’s biggest developer, MGM.

He reports that growing numbers of British buyers are opting for properties in locations like the traditional working farming village of Les Carroz d’Araches – in the Haute Savoie region between Geneva and Chamonix – where the lifestyle enables them to integrate with local people while enjoying a huge variety of outdoor activities throughout the year, in addition to good skiing.

In summer they include hiking, biking and horse-riding as well as rock climbing, archery, paragliding, white water rafting, fishing and hot air ballooning. Within Les Carroz, tennis courts and open-air pools are open in the summer months. For golfers an 18-hole course is available nine kilometres away at Flaine.

Similar in style to Les Chalets de Jouvence at Les Carroz is this earlier MGM development  – Le Hameau du Beaufortain at Les Saisies.

“For British buyers, a special appeal of the villages in the Haute Savoie region is that they are only about one hour from Geneva Airport by road, making them four hours door-to-door’ from London,” says Richard.

“The short airport transfer time makes the location ideal for weekend use and short breaks.”

MGM has apartments for sale in two developments in Les Carroz – Les Chalets des Trappeurs, where apartments are available for outright purchase, and Les Chalets de Jouvence, a four-star residence de tourisme with apartments for sale on a leaseback basis.

Les Chalets des Trappeurs at Les Carroz.

Like all MGM apartments, they are arranged within traditionally-styled chalets constructed using local materials, with finishes in timber and local stone on external walls. Inside they feature pine finishes with tiled and parquet floors.

In keeping with MGM policy, the regulation standards for safety and aspects such as acoustic and thermal insulation are exceeded.

Unlike many French developers, MGM includes in the purchase price fully-fitted kitchens complete with appliances, fully-equipped bathrooms and built-in wardrobes.

Most apartments come with underground parking, cellar storage and a ski locker.

Prices at Les Chalets des Trappeurs start at €173,000 for a one-bedroom apartment with parking, cellar storage and a ski locker.

At Les Chalets de Jouvence prices start at €318,000 for a two-bedroom apartment with parking, cellar storage and a ski locker. The price excludes VAT which is waived under the leaseback scheme.

Most of the apartments come with panoramic mountain views.

Four-star facilities within the residence include an indoor pool, fitness suite, gym, sauna, jacuzzi and steam rooms, as well as a beauty centre with a variety of massages and treatments on offer.
