Many of the visitors to our French Property Exhibitions are surprised by how much more property they can buy in France compared to the UK and so we went househunting in France with the budget of average property prices in the UK. The average house price in England in January 2017, according to the UK government House Price Index, is £234,794. For this you could buy a one-bed apartment in Lewisham, south-east London, a two-bed apartment in central Birmingham or a two-bed apartment in central Manchester.
