Can anyone recommend which CD by Isabelle Boulay I should buy for my 16 year old daughter?  My daughter likes her music apparently and as I have never heard of her, I am at a loss as to which CD to order.

Ageing hippy that I am I would suggest starting with Etats D'Amour or her latest Chansons Pour Les Mois D'Hiver, but then what do I know my favourite Wainwright in AA followed by Loudon III before eventually reaching Rufus.

Best check she has not any already

Thanks Anton.  She doesn't have any.

"Ageing hippy" is an oxymoron...  Hippies are forever young.

A personal favorite (but a bit old for a young person who might want to be seen as more up to date) is

Au moment d'être à vous

with this cover version of the Leo Ferré classic
"Avec le temps"

and (appropriate for you)
"Ma fille'

Lyrics here

"Mon enfant, mon petit... Bonne route... Bonne route
Tu prendras le train pour la vie et ton cœur va changer de pays...
Sur le chemin de la vie nos deux cœurs vont changer de pays"

Norman - Thank you for the two exquisite songs.  The daughter who wants an Isabelle Boulay CD, although a teenager, has traditional tastes.

I think that the lyrics to Ma Fille are very appropriate, especially as she is shortly to go to Germany for a whole year soon.

I'm off to try to buy it today.

They are good aren't they.
Bon courage for the time when she goes to Germany, but I am sure you will be able to say:

"Je vais te retrouver, Je vais me retrouver dans chacun de tes gestes
On s'est quittés parents, on se retrouve amis"

I bought the CD that you recommended with "Ma Fille" on.  She was absolutely delighted.  I was SO excited when I saw it on the shelves because I left it quite late to get.

So thank you, Norman. Sometimes you can be a "softie".  I just wish you were like this all the time - it suits you.  I'm a bit scared of your "grumpy" side!

Norman, this song is  a gem, as well as " mon enfant mon amour" by Reggiani, know it?

Do you aklso know and like Lynda lemay , from Quebec ? I know I am a softie , but many of her songs make me cry!

One example : Le plus fort, c'est mon père.

( the lyrics are on the right hand side, if you click on " more info" )

Another one " Les filles seules"

Life has a habit of biting you on the bum in ways that you least expect
