Bank stability

Hi,

Just a quick question on the banks of france, and their possible implosion.....

Given that europe is finally starting to look slightly unhealthy, can anyone either tell me or point me towards a website that explains what happens when a bank goes bankrupt?

Might sound paranoid, but Im in the process of selling a house, so will soon have a fair amount of cash floating about.....

Cheers all

Tricky one, banks guarentees in France are higher than the UK, i think its €100k that you are guarenteed to be secure per bank, its worth checking ot out though, you could spread it around a couple of banks. Let me know what you find out though

Guarantee (70,000 euros) is limited to accounts in currencies of the European Economic Area, i.e. excludes dollars and (possibly) Swiss francs (Switzerland is not EEA, but Liechtenstein, which uses Swiss franc, is).
