I am English and my seperated wife is French. We were married in France and now live in Germany. Is it possible for my wife to want to divorce in France under French law, even though we have not lived there as a married couple?

Basically, as long as you were married in France, under french law, yes, she can. However, if you were married after 1992, when you filled your certificate, you were supposed to chose the law you would use about division of property (Hague Convention). You should refer to a lawyer anyway.
