Sorry if this is in the wrong thread. OH & I are preparing to move to france and wondered about life insurance or if we decide to get a small mortgage, mortgage protection, my OH was diagnosed with prostate cancer 11 months ago, we are having positive results following surgery and have been told he has a 90% chance of it not coming back, does anyone either have experience of getting insurance in this situation or does anyone know a good company we could check out with, hubby is 55years old, and took early retirement 18months ago so we could move and then found out just after he retired that he has cancer, he is fit and well, very positive and raring to get to france.
Thanks for reading this and we hope someone can help.
I can't tell you anything about life insurance I'm afraid except to say that with such recent history I can't imagine French insurance companies taking a view much different to that in UK, i.e. declined or at very best anything remotely to do with cancer excluded.
In the circumstances however, and apologies for going off topic and if you have this aspect covered, I would suggest that a far bigger problem for you is going to be the securing of adequate private health cover in France which you will need not only for the obvious practical reasons but also to be legally resident.
Good luck with your plans Counting down to retirement update: A bright light now beckons

Re: Cancer and Mortgage protection/life insurance
Broadly speaking, for those who suffer or have suffered from a serious illness, obtaining a loan is now easier thanks to the Convention Belorgey and the Convention AERAS (in google English here).
You should ask if this extends to life insurance as well.
