Rose - it looks very like the basement of our last house which we made into a small appartment with open plan kitchen/ living room etc. Husband had an obssession with the pillar and wanted to take it out! But was persuaded otherwise. I had various ideas to turn it into a feature eg shelves all down it for books etc, a greek pillar draped in gauze, disguised as a tree etc. In the end it was built into a corner for a separate section. Good luck, it seems to be a real blank canvas at the moment.

Our original kitchen when we moved in was so hard to fit out, too many doors low windows stairs huge fireplace etc, so we are turning it into a dining room for our b&b guests.Should be finished next week. These photos taken when we first moved in and removed the filth
I cant make them small either so if the mods could help.........thankyou
