The top locations for a family summer holiday have been revealed, which includes a popular region in France
This year's summer holidays are in full swing with families flying all over Europe in search of sunshine and relaxation.
But choosing where to go every year can be a tricky decision, which can make or break the annual family getaway.
Thankfully, some of Europe's most popular destinations within a five-hour flight time from London have been scored to reveal which are truly the most family-friendly locations.
The results reveal Corsica, in France, ranked as the fourth most popular European destination for families out of a list of 20 within Europe. It achieved a score of 55.7 out of 100 in the Columbus Index, compiled by insurance provider Columbus Direct.
With 244 family-friendly hotels to choose from, 1,208 child-friendly restaurants and 244 activities for kids to take part in, Corsica is also only a two-and-a-quarter hour flight from the UK.
The Mediterranean island, to the south-east of mainland France, boasts beautiful beaches with fine sand and turquoise waters including popular spots such as Plage de Santa Giulia, to the south of the Gulf of Porto-Vecchio and the Plage de Rondinara.
If you want a break from the beach, there are family walks around Corsica's botanical park, Saleccia Park near L'Ile Rousse, which also has playgrounds and friendly nanny goats.
Children can also discover more than 170 species of tortoises and turtles from all continents at Acupulatta, a conservation centre covering two hectares, which is open seven days a week from April to October.
Holidaymakers can take their pick from a wide array of leisure activities including walking through the treetops, rides on the trinichellu train which travels all around Corsica, sea kayaking, horse riding and cycling, to name a few.
Europe's Most Family-friendly Destinations was topped by The Algarve in Portugal with a score of 78 out of 100, followed by Cornwall in second place and Majorca in Spain in third.
