Dear Jack,

I have been reading your forum regarding Airport brive

I do pose herewith a link to the official site of the devellopment of the airport it states the total

project inclusif the airplaines airbus 320 and boeing 747 wil be able to land .

The project will be completed around the end of 2007 it gives you a complete overside.

however the document can be easely downloades as it is in pdf format.

I think that a lot of the members having questions about the airport will now be satisfied

From Me I am living in the area for 5 years and know most of what is going on around in this area .

Kind regards to all of you If you need help I am a dutchman but speak and write 5 other languages fluently.

Thanks for posting a reply.

I have an interest as I fly light aircraft from time to time so am interested in the General Aviation facilities.

I notice that you mention B747. I wonder if this is a typo as the 747 is somewhat large for this airport. Do you mean B737?

AS I drove past the proposed airport yesterday I thought I'd confirm that work does appear to be in progress. As Cat46 said it seems the access will be A20/A89 intersection.

Just to let you know that this airport was quoted in the daily telegraph about 2 months ago and that it was quoted as being an international airport

No news as yet as to who will be using Brive, but the build is considerably behind schedule.  The low cost operators were expected to start flying to the UK in 2009 or 2010 http://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/933929/ShowPost.aspx  but that was way back when it was still expected that the airport would open at the end of 2007.

From searching around a bit, it seems that the build is 2 years behind schedule, and that the expectation is for it to open at the end of 2008, for internal flights to Paris.

I found this http://www.usinenouvelle.com/article/le-futur-aeroport-de-brive-souillac-decollera-en-2008.107115

They seem to be saying that, in 5 years time, there will be flights to London, Southampton, Bristol and Dublin (so could be Ryanair then).
