what is it with some on this forum?
You tell me, I was only in the trade for 15 years and used to come and buy from brocantes - lots.(and made a good profit at it too) I still do on occaision, in addition I know several French dealers, but hey, what do I know ?
I have given you several reasons, none of which you seem willing or able to accept.
As for white goods, yes there are second hand places that specialise but you are unlikely to see many taking the risk in general second stores, for a start all second hand white goods are supposed to be tested and so marked. In order to test eletrical goods you have to go to college and pass a certificate. Many auctions have stopped selling them and charity shops often will not take them or dump them straight away. For many general/jobbing traders it is just not viable. Same with some uphostery, it either has to be antique or have its correct certification.
What would you like me to say - all French brocante ownes are greedy and overpriced ?

oh my god! please read the threads of this topic carefully and explain when and how i have managed to receive this attack from yourself? i asked for answers to my question, very simple but you seem to write excuses and wont except debate without being abrubt, i understand the Antique market and again i say they are not selling ANTIQUES but worn out run of the mill goods! and its these ive been commenting on!
maybe im reading your threads wrong , i just wanted advice and debate but your replies seem hostile and very defensive, you obviously take things personally.
well done for all you accolades’ you must be quite well off, and im sure your a wealth of knowledge, I bow down.

You asked a question and having some experience and knowledge I answered, you refuse to accept any of the reasons I have suggested.
I don't need to be defensive, I'm not in the second hand/antiques/collectibles trade at present, one reason being that it has been in the doldrums, however in a recession it may prosper once more.
Asking you questions isn't aggressive and I have given you advice, if you don't like the prices or the stock in the brocantes you visit, go somewhere else. What is there to debate ? A brocantes want a price you don't want to pay it, make an offer if you are interested in a piece, who knows, you may be able to strike a deal. If all the brocantes you visit are too expensive maybe it's your ideas of price that are out of step. Just plain old logic.
But, it's like any other trade, it all looks easy and 'any fool can do it', from the outside, I'm pointing out some of the other factors you may not have taken into account.
PS When and if I attack you, you'll know, believe me, this isn't an attack, I can be far more scary !!![Big Smile [:D]](/cs/images/emotions/biggrin.gif) ![Big Smile [:D]](/cs/images/emotions/biggrin.gif)
