I had a request from my daughter to make a plate for my youngest grandson similar to one I made for the older borther. At the same time I wanted to make a replacement christening pot for my eldest grandson. The original was lost in a fire that destroyed their flat!!
The pot is beech with wallnut and the plate is maple. The side walls of the pot are parallel, as near as ?, and are about 1/8th inch thick. A real pig to do!!
I really like that mouse!
Why thank you Dick.
The outside is polished with a Liberon hard wax stick with canuba (?) wax in it and the inside with Danish oil that the lovely Pads very kindly bought over for me.
Yes I do the pyro too, but I must admit that as far as the art work is concerned I cheat. I sort out what I want to use and get it to the size I want using Windowz 2000 Publisher then print out the result. That is then copied onto the piece using black carbon paper (blue leaves marks that are difficult to remove) and pyrograph the print or picture from there. Gud-ere-init ...
I use a wire pen, not a solid tip as it's very much easier to control the temp of the burn.
