I posted a thread last week about how to download things such as security software I have onto my new netbook. Anyway I had a few helpful answers and before I could do anything with them the thread has gone! No idea where but it isn't where I can see it anymore, So does anyone know how to download things onto my netbook as it has no disc drive so cannopt do it direct.

Re: Thread gone!!!
Use either; An external CD/DVD drive or An external hard drive (needs the data/software saved to it first of course) A USB memory stick (needs the data/software saved to it first of course)

Thebiga, Here is a quick recap of what was suggested:

You have options. Download direct from the 'net (something like AVG
free) , buy and external hard drive or download from your PC via an easy
transfer cable. I'm sure there are other ways which the clever lot on
here know. Personally, I think an external DVD writer at around £40 is
a good investment as then you can watch DVDs on your netbook if you
wish.

You would get most of the required software on to a 2 gb flash drive
(memory stick) they really quite cheap in France. Copy the set files for
whatever programme from your old/other computer, or a friends, and then
move them on to the notebook.
If your concern is that you might get infected online in the time it
takes you to download and install an antivirus programme then I think
you can safely forget such worries
