17/11/2008, 14:40 Bannon Joined on 16/11/2007 Sancerre Posts 145 Closing down an micro enterprise We run a micro enterprise and now wish to close it down prior to our long awaited retirement - not sure at this stage if we'll stay in France or return to dear old Blighty but anyway..... How easy is it to close it down at what should be our first step? We were thinking of 'bringing the shutters down' as it were on the 31st of December this year.  Thanks as always guys.    Report

Write to your chambre, giving them the details of the date and they will create a collection of forms for each of the caisse, for your signature. I was told by a French guy that I just needed to go down to Chambre and return my Artisan card, but that seemed a bit odd. Still Cheers    Report

It's also best to write to the body collecting your social chares that you are closing the business down (RSI or URSSAF) and send them a copy of the document that the CFE will give you. They are supposed to talk to each other, but don't always dod it... If you are VAT registered also contact the Centre des Impots. Valerie www.startbusinessinfrance.com    Report
