The Pont d'Acquitanne is closed from 2200 on Friday till 0400 on Monday next. probably adds about 25 minutes to journey times to Airport. Might have missed the finer detail - pilchard in a truck registered in Portugal was doing random lane changes at the time

Quite correct and the following weekend also. Unless the weather is bad in which case the work may be put back, presumably to the next weekend.

You won't believe the detour to get back to Poitiers.

You have to know Bordeaux pretty well before it is worth trying to go through the centre even on a bike. The Pont de Piere has the trams running accross it and the trams control the traffic lights on the South bank, result lights are green only about 10 minutes an hour. Pont St Jean is better but just when you think you are on a nice wide dual carriageway, with no turnings and no pedestrians, the gendarmes are out a couple of days a week enforcing the 50 kph limit.
