Peach Trees
Reply Quote
We are off to visit some friends in Almeria (Spain) this weekend and they have asked me to bring some Bordeaux Mixture.  They tell me it is used here to treat problems with vines but that it also good for peach leaf curl, which is what they want it for.  Before we head off to the garden centre, does anyone know what I am supposed to be looking for? If it's good I'll buy some for our peach trees, which also have peach leaf curl.  I had read previously that I have to wait until the end of the season to use the usual treatment.  Anyone have any other suggestions though?

It is called Bouillie Bordelaise in French and is normally a blue powder to be mixed with some water and sprayed. (Considered Organic - by most) Easily found in the garden shops.

Hardly 'Organic'    It's a posh name for a mixture copper sulphate and calcium hydroxide, not a carbon atom in sight.

Not a lifeform as we know it but normally classified as OK in terms of organic gardening/agri in limited quantities

The treatment is correct but I fear it is too late for this year. Let the peach leaf curl take its course this year and start spraying thoroughly after the leaves have dropped in the winter and spray at least once a month until flowering time so that you have a chance to catch the virus before the buds form.
