Two of mine paid out recently in the UK (not a lot , only £5000 each).
I was not sure about the tax situation being resident in France so I sent an email to infotax-southwest@dgi.finances.gouv.fr .
Their reply was as the policy's were over 9 years old no tax payable.
Has anyone else had payments recently , and did you have to pay any tax ?
