We were quoted a horrendous 1000 euros hors taxes. Surely this is excessive? Would anyone who has done this recently please advise what they paid. TIA Sheila    Report

12/05/2008, 8:41 allanb Joined on 04/09/2006 Posts 450 Re: Changing Regime Matrimoniale I believe (although I'm not sure of the authority for this) that in a case where the change might have an effect on the rights of heirs, e.g. where there are children from a previous marriage, the approval of the court may be necessary, and if this is so you will need an avocat to represent you. On the other hand, it can certainly be done by a notaire if it's simple enough.  Logically the thing to do is to start with the notaire; he should be able to tell you whether it's within his competence. If it isn't, he shouldn't charge you very much for telling you.    Report

We opted for CU when we bought and paid nothing over and above the standard Notaires fee for the transaction.   My doctor said one drink per day, I can live with that !    Report
