Filling pool from recuperation tank

ErnieY 01/05/2008, 17:33

I know quite a lot about a lot of things but I am a complete and utter newby when it comes to swimming pools so please bear with me Blush [:$]

Eventually I am going to install a large above ground pool which my sloping plot is eminently suitable for. We haven't budgeted for it this year though so as a temporary measure for the hot days ahead I plan to rig up a medium size blow up pool which my son gave to me, it having only been used for one season in UK and in near new condition.

With regards to filling it I have a large water recuperation tank, some 14cu/m or so, so would it be OK to fill it from that then run it through a filter for a few days ?

What sort of filter would I need and also what chemicals ?

I presume I eed a PH kit to don't I ?

As I said, utter newby to this stuff so all advice gratefully received.

My doctor said one drink per day, I can live with that !

Ernie

Thanks for the question.

I presume by 'recuperation tank' you mean rain water storage, which is a good source of water. If its from any other source the do not use it.

I suggest you invest in a water analyser (such as Scuba +) and a stock of Chlor either liquid or powder, galletts avaialbe from a brico, pHminus liquid or powder from the same place.

If you tell me the cubic capacity of the pool then I can advise you about the correct sizing of filter, pump and (of course) the quantity of ZEL EAU filter medium to put in it.

Hope tha this helps

Andrew
