What is this lizard?

Saw this lizard yesterday afternoon in my garden. Can anyone identify it. I live in Charente just south of Angouleme.

Thank you Clair for that link, I can see that it is a common green lizard (although it is the first one I have seen in the 7 years we have been in France).

I see quite a few of them in my part of the Lot.
They dig deep holes about 1" across and have the perfect mix of colours to camouflage themselves in the grassy areas.
