Confused [8-)] salt testing
Reply Quote

Hi,

Just waking up after winter and thinking of 'summerising' the pool.

We do have a salt pool,  and are happy so far with it.

Is it possible to get a salt tester so we can see how much salt to add?

What is the concentration of salt needed in the pool?

We are new to caring for a pool, does anyone have an idiots guide to prepping the pool for summer.

Many thanks for your input,

Carole

YOU BUY A BOX OF STRIPS ABOUT5CM. LONG AND IMMERSE THE END IN A SAMPLE OF SALT WATER AND LEAVE 3-5MINUTES WHEN A COLOUR CHANGE OCCURS AND YOU HAVE A REAA-DING WHICH THE BOX INFORMATION WILL GIVE YOU THE AMOUNT OF SALT PRESENT.

TEST DE SALINITY IS NAME AND ABOUT 15EURO.

NEED 3900-4200PPM OR 3.9-4.2KG.CUBIC METRE OF WATER.

Be aware that not all Salt electrolysers are the same, as some run on very high concentrations of salt - say up to 6,000ppm and other run very low down to 3,500ppm;

I suggest that you consult the manual of your equipment to verify the correct level and then, as Ab has advised you, get a tester from a Brico or a pool shop and check.

It is essential to the production of chlorine that you have the salt levels correct. IF they drop then you will make even less chlorine than you are at the moment.
