'chipie' to 'krusty' seems to imply an experiential whirlwind. What happened?

Well thats not how it was in PW when I was the subject of their playground antics, as you well know!

No, I don't know at all. Anyway, *** (which I think is what you mean by PW) is long gone, and I have far more important things to remember than ex-forums. I'm sincerely sorry if you thought you were badly treated there, but I honestly can't remember anything like that happening. The forum which took over from that (which I understand the rules of this forum prevent me from naming, as it is still in existence and I have no personal connection with it) comprises mostly nice, like-minded people, and as I said before we have disagreements and discussions (I remember one in particular about cyclists) but we mostly settle these amicably and agree to live with our own opinions.
Edit - I see the 'profanity filter' is still set to exclude poss um world for some reason, no idea why - this forum is far bigger than that ever was, and, in my opinion, is still, despite a bit of stupidity from a few users, the best resource for France-related information, so I fail to see why any other forum should be considered a threat. ![Wink [;-)]](/cs/images/emotions/wink.gif)

Just caught up with the thread and I am saddened the way it deteriorated towards the end. Quillan I thank you heartfelt response, it was good to hear your opinion with your mod hat off! It provided an explanation long overdue.
Not at all sure what happened after that with regards to Dick Smith - what has gone wrong? Dick used to provide such good input and another viewpoint. What made it all become personal? A shame. The Forum has lost a bit of its lustre. I miss those like Miki, Teamed up, Tresco, Saligo |Bay and many others, even that person that masqueraded as a few other characters. I think people will ultimately be afraid to post just in case they get shot down. I know I can be a bit blunt sometimes and I do not want to pee on someones bonfire, but is only my opinion after all. Someone else has another and for example are happily raising a family in france and love the education system here. It is well documented that I struggled with this.
I posted because I wanted to hear other opinions.
Lets see some more differing opinions and common sense prevail. We now live in the world of tolerance as well as the politically correct.

I think there are quite a few people now worried about their written word including me, just small one line posts from now on so as not to offend.

I am saddened by the few who think it is fun to "hijack" a thread with rudeness, arrogance ridicule and total lack of respect for other members.
This is a great forum site which I have used for various things over many years and I for one will not let the odd few deter me from using it.
As for grammar and spelling, there may be some who are new to this typing lark, and type the words they want to express. So who cares about mis-spelling or the odd missing or badly placed punctuation. There may be some who have spent years on a keyboard, and they can still make mistakes. Does it really matter as long as the message they want to convey, or question they want to ask, gets across.

You can-not go wrong with one liners most of the time.
But sometimes you get a few words coming your way,
so post as you think, you will not please all the people all the time.
