18/11/2007, 15:10 Pads Joined on 24/05/2006 Cornwall/ Montage Noir Posts 3,132 Re: Mosaics Tony a friend of mine makes the most beutiful mosics and never pays a penny for her materials, but spends a lot of time in skips( for used tiles pieces of glass ect) and hunting the shore line for worn glass bits small pebbles, some times we find bits in old junk shops like old coins old tins toys, marbles, beads, ect. it is fasinating to watch her turn these bits of rubbish into beutiful pieces of art. So just look around you and see what treasures you may already have hanging around in the garden and shed and the countryside. I still have loads of them in boxes in the cellar to use one day soon... I was going to say that I usually visit Mosaic workshop in Holloway when I'm in the UK. They have a website at  http://www.mymosaicworkshop.co.uk/   .They send abroad but I delivery charges would be horrendous. Theres some useful info on the website though.     Report

(Concerning knotwork) 'Look for simple ones: however gorgeous the examples you find, most will be too complicated to make unless the work is on a very large scale' As a result of this thread, I've spent this afternoon finishing a mosaic that I started over a year ago.
