Confused [8-)] Oak staircase
Reply Quote

Can anyone advise me as to where I can obtain an oak staircase in France - we will be restoring (or is it rebuilding) a property in Brittany.

Thanks

You could look in the yellow pages for menuiseries, self employed artisans. We tried a few around us but they were too busy. You can also get them made to measure by builder's merchants such as Gedimat, which is where we got ours. We had to wait a month or two. Probably Leroy Merlin too.

These people will install throughout France, although they're very close to me.

Expensive but fab' - everybody admires my oak staircase!  Hand made to measure and the installation was excellent too.

Thank you for your responses - very helpful.

The staircases on the website are indeed beautiful - just have to persuade he who thinks he holds the purse strings that we absolutely must have one of these to do our property justice!

Thanks again.

Big Smile [:D]

Having spent goodness knows how much on trying to get our upstairs conversion just as I wanted it, I decided, "what the heck, why ruin it with a staircase I didn't like?"  I haven't regretted it, although of course, now we can't afford the upstairs bathroom yet....
