11/10/2007, 2:38 RicandJo Joined on 24/09/2007 Carcassonne / Milano Posts 133 Re: Long rental carcassonne region Thanks for that - we'll be popping in there for sure.   We're really looking forward to finding somewhere, then the search for a place to buy will begin!  We're in Milan at the moment (where i work) but have been across to that area a few times now and we really like it.  It was a toss up between Beaune and Carcassonne, but the weather and Pyrenees swung it for Carc.   I'll let you know how we got on in a couple of weeks.   Ric.    Report

Sorry I didn't reply to this before there was too much stuff going on and I didn't want to jinx it.  After looking at several places, some ok, some bad and some you wouldn't put your dog in we found a lovely village 20 minutes E NE of Carcassonne and whilst looking at a rental place there the agent also had one for sale which she showed us and we fell in love with it.  Needs some work but not a huge amount. So we bought it .  Been a bit fraught lately with surveys, compromis, mortgage applications and paperwork etc but now we are waiting for a date to go and sign the Acte.   Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet    Report

11/03/2008, 15:02 RicandJo Joined on 24/09/2007 Carcassonne / Milano Posts 133 Re: Long rental carcassonne region Thanks Pads, it will be home, not holiday home.  I'll still be working in Italy until something closer comes up but there's a good link (3 a day) between Milan and Girona with Ryanair.  I do 4 days on and 4 off but that looks to be changing to 5/5 or maybe even 6/6, so I'll get plenty of time at home.  My wife will be there full time.   Most exciting prospect I think will be getting our cat out of storage.  Poor sods been there since August.  Of course I mean cattery....!   Coffee I can do - better be up to Milanese standards though.......LOL      Report

Do you have the keys now or is it still going through?? Have PM'd you... P, we will probably be in Carcassonne on that Tuesday at 10.30, IN THE DENTISTS!!!!!!!!! But we should be able to attend after that, but it wouldn't be until closer to 11.30ish? John.
