hi Cathy ,the barn is 12.2m Lx 5.4m w its got an ok roof and it is build of some volcanic and some honey colored stone ,its on a 2 acre plot which is pretty flat but say on a 1degree tilt , we have owed it 2 yrs nearly but we have had trouble with planning as we used a uk guy who did not know the french system so it was thrown out ,no we dont have any builders lined up ,im a plumber -htg guy myself so i can do a bit , we have just had a baby so we cant do tooo much ,but we cleared out the barn ,it was full of hay and it took all day ,the barn is in a little hamlet of about 7 houses so its a good spot

Sounds idyliic. But with a brand new baby, don't expect to get much done for a couple of years... (I speak as a mother of -nearly - a cricket team of children).
I would say that a 1 degree tilt is flat. Isn't the planet Earth tilted by that much anyway?
Quite the hardest thing about barn conversions in France (apart from planning and getting artisans) is the fosse septique. There's been loads written about this on the Forum so you could do a search.

If you have several acres, use a bucket and the field!
Do not try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.
