From a different forum I am a member of we had some trouble with this stuff - completely random.  I think once the bot's master program gets into a forum, past any measures meant to stop them, then you might see some of the less desirable porn ad posts and stuff...... The other forum I go to (not France related) had to set up a double log in to stop them - once you enter your log in details you go to another log in request instead of accessing forum.  If you login successfully twice it let's you in.  The bot's attempt a log in once, if it fails they move on.
