Photo above is of a friend's stairs. She's been told they may be elm. Can anyone confirm that... or suggest what other wood they might be?

No idea...the stain covers the timber. The first riser has Elm like grain figuring...what's the first letter?Big Smile [:D]

hi ok

             yes   most structural timber is poplar not pine

 wood is only as good as the finnish you put on it
