February 2006 - Oh my God what a nightmare and not a brick laid yet!

February 2nd 2006 

Have been contacted by SAUR to arrange a meeting at the site to discuss connecting the water.  Strangely, this only occurred after we chased the building company to find out if they had sorted this out yet.  Meeting went ok and they will be sending out their Devis in the next ten days - once this is approved it will take up to twenty five days for the work to be done.

Have finally arranged a meeting with the building company to discuss where this project is going - Ha Ha!

Having arranged this meeting and still being assured that our house will be ready by October 2006 we received a letter from our building company requesting the money (almost 20,000 Euros) to open the works.  At the bottom of this letter it stated that they will not be able to complete our house until at least April 2007!!!!!

It's going to be an interesting meeting tomorrow..................................

I think it will be great once you see the building "growing" and you will relax more. I would think April 2007 would be more realistic. We have just gone/are still going through a renovation/new build. We had to wait for 4 month for the groundwork, once the first block was laid it went a bit quicker. Then we had to wait for the roofer, then for the windows all at "snails pace". Our build will have taken at least 20 month and that is for a very small house, that is from planning permission to finish. Now we are waiting for the work to begin inside.I look very much forward to read more of your story.

You are lucky my builders would not start excavation without the water connected (maybe they need water like ours do for a CAFE break?). but at least they contacted the water people and i signed and returned the devis with a large cheque. water connected end Feb 2006
